Design of new shop for the British Film Institute in the redeveloped BFI Southbank site.

The brief required space-planning of the shop, sourcing and specification of display
lighting and shelving, the design of bespoke sales desks, seating and display units. These are all constructed of deeply shot-blasted ash with a grey waxed finish in reference to the raw, shuttered concrete architecture on the southbank.

JCR ID oversaw the manufacture of all furniture, the electrical installation and the fit-out of the shop.

We chose JCR Interior Design as partners for the new BFI FilmStore because their
outline designs indicated a real ability to listen to our brief and to understand the constraints of the project. The final design met our requirement to deliver a specialist
retail opportunity within a flagship cultural venue.

The fit-out was tightly project managed by Jethro Clunies-Ross, liaison with the many
other contractors on the site was efficient and the BFI FilmStore was delivered on
time and on budget.

The design and fit out have proved over time to be both attractive and robustly fit for purpose, enabling the BFI FilmStore to be a very successful part of BFI Southbank.

I would not hesitate to work with JCR Interior Design in the future.
